Calton Hill Outdoor Play Centre
Client: Collective - Contemporary Art Centre
Contract: Commercial
Contract Value: £18k
Calton Hill outdoor play centre, situated on a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Edinburgh’s city centre, was designed by architects O’Donnell Brown to create an outdoor space for schools and local organisations to practise inclusive learning and collaborative workshops.
The build consists of a lightweight polycarbonate roof, timber columns and sections which are bolted together to allow them to be dismantled with ease. These features give the structure the potential to be relocated and leave minimal impact to the previous site.
